Brix 42 Gastropub, Old Town Pasadena's first and only full service restaurant and brewery, will be celebrating its grand opening this weekend. A variety of community specials will run now through the month of April starting with a 50% off coupon for food purchases made March 29th - April 2nd from 5 - 10pm served in the dining area. Brix 42 brings together a classic tradition of fine American cuisine and great beer. Serving up excellent food and great times Brix 42 is a place to relax, eat, and have fun.
In its simplest form, a Gastropub is a place with a warm, inviting pub atmosphere that serves sophisticated, yet unpretentious food. Extensive and creative beer and wine lists are an integral part of the concept. The menu at Brix includes signature dishes like slow and low cooked pot roast with garlic mashed potatoes, beer battered fish and house cut fries, and chorizo basted pork tenderloin served with sautéed broccoli. The chefs use the freshest seasonal ingredients with local California ingredients that can be found at the farmer's market.
Legend has it that the pub was once a corral where travelers and residents would water their horses and take a break, gathering with locals from the community for a beer and a song. George Ghaby, owner and successful restaurateur, has created a modern day version of the old corral, with classic American food and home-brewed beer. Brix 42 was created to be a neighborhood-gathering place where people can relax, unwind, and enjoy themselves while eating good food and drinking good beer.
"Opening a restaurant is hard work," Ghaby says. "It takes time, dedication, and heart if you want to do it right. The details count."
Details are what Ghaby is known for. The former owner of the famous Hillstreet Café in La Canada, known for good food, excellent service, and a warm atmosphere, was owned and ran by Ghaby for 16 years.
Housing its own brewery, Brix uses fresh, all natural ingredients with no preservatives. Fine German Malts are combined with American Hops, brewed in a steam kettle for better flavor than direct flame. Beers stay in tanks for a maximum time of 2-3 months for optimum freshness. Brix's Honey Wheat has 50pbs of honey added for a distinctive taste. Brix's brew master has over 15 years of experience working at brewing manufacturers, micro-breweries, and brew-pubs.
The restaurant, bar and lounge are open seven days a week. Hours are nightly: Restaurant: 5:00 - 10:00 pm, happy hour: 4:00 - 7:00, and pub/lounge: 4:00 - midnight Sunday - Thursdays and until 2:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
