Canvas Becomes the First British Tour Operator to Introduce Eco Showers

Camping holidays have always been considered green due to their low carbon footprint and close proximity to nature. However, Canvas Holidays have taken things a step further and become the first British camping holiday operator to introduce Eco Camel showers to their overseas campsites. For more information, please visit http://www.canvasholidays.co.uk.

London (PRWEB) March 29, 2009 -- The average person uses 150 litres of water daily and as the effects of climate change become clearer, saving resources has never been so crucial. The ordinary shower is responsible for over half of our daily water usage; producing 16 litres of water per minute and with over a million people choosing to go on a camping holiday abroad on a yearly basis, a campsite shower can account for a large amount of wastage.

Canvas Holidays, have become the first British camping holiday operator to introduce the Eco Camel Water and Energy Saving Device across their overseas accommodation. The Eco Camel reduces water consumption by over 40%, producing just 7 litres of water a minute, whilst still maintaining the overall shower experience.

The device works by linking air into the water stream by a base at the handle. This spins the water at high speed and creates a pressurised spa-like power spray; the perfect wake-up call on your camping holiday.

The first campsite to introduce the showerheads will be the Berny Riverie in Paris, a perfect destination for a family camping holiday featuring tranquil parkland and a perfect sandy beach. There are further goals to introduce the Eco Camel system to five-hundred campsites in France throughout the year.

The showerheads will benefit everyone on a camping holiday abroad as less water requires less heating. Therefore, tourists on camping holidays can be content knowing that they are significantly lowering their energy usage and carbon emissions.

Paul Carter, managing director for Canvas Holidays, said, 'We're delighted to be introducing this new technology to our sites. As a camping holiday company we have a responsibility to show due care and attention to the local environment. We know that our guests want to do all they can to help reduce their carbon footprints and environmental impact when on a camping holiday abroad and we intend to help them do this in any way that we can.
