Westford, Mass. (PRWEB) March 30, 2009
After a successful partnership with Gumball 3000 Rally in 2008 from San Francisco to China, PUMA® will return to the streets with Gumball 3000 in this year's "coast to coast" road trip as the exclusive sportlifestyle sponsor. PUMA's participation in Gumball 3000 further enhances the brand's credibility in the sport, and is a platform to celebrate the 10-year anniversary as a motorsport icon. From May 1st through May 9th, the 3000 mile route will kick off in Los Angeles and stop in Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Santa Fe, Dallas, Orlando, New Orleans and conclude the adventure in Miami. PUMA will bring their unique design-driven and fashion-led perspective to the wildly popular and diverse cultural event, inviting friends and hosting events with Gumball 3000 along the way.
PUMA will host three cars in the rally featuring celebrity drivers, who will join the rally's Hollywood A-list participants. In addition to the celebrities and fans, at the Gumball 3000, it's the fast cars that steal the show. All of the 120 cars in the Gumball 3000 Rally will be branded with the iconic PUMA cat logo and signature PUMA formstripe as part of the Official Gumball 3000 Sticker Kit -- from the vintage, customized and luxury Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Rolls Royce's, Aston Martin's and Bugatti's to America's finest muscle cars and today's 'greenest'hybrid and electric vehicles of the future.
As part of the brand's involvement in the rally, PUMA and Journeys will release an exclusive, limited edition PUMA Gumball sneaker at Journeys.com in April. In addition, PUMA Stores along the route will release a special edition collection of t-shirts for the event.
PUMA entered the Motorsport category 10 years ago and today is leader in the sport as the official supplier to top motorsport racing teams and drivers in Formula 1, NASACR and MotoGP. The brand's credibility in the sport and ability mix lifestyle and fashion into the game made Gumball 3000 a natural fit, especially given the global event's appeal for adventure, fast cars, style, diversity and most importantly, fun. The Gumball 3000's ability to bring people together has redefined grand touring for the modern era and established a new genre of entertainment - fusing sport and lifestyle across cultures and borders.
PUMA will document their Gumball 3000 Rally experience leading up to the event and throughout the rally on the new pumamotorsport.com web site beginning in mid-April and through May, featuring exclusive photos, videos and blog entries direct from the road.

About Gumball 3000
The first Gumball 3000 took place in April 1999, when British creator Maximillion Cooper invited 50 of his friends to take part in a 3000-mile party around Europe to bring together the music, film, fashion and sport industries. Ten years later, and things have certainly grown, with crowds of over a million people attending the start last year in London, and a televised and online audience that reached over 60 million in over 150 countries around the world.
Gumball 3000 consistently hits the headlines as 'Cool Britannia's' most unique addition to pop culture, described by Vanity Fair Magazine as 'the most rock 'n' roll car rally ever staged' and famed for its exploits and celebrity participation. The event annually attracts stars including Oscar-winning star of the Pianist Adrien Brody, Jackass' Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera and Ryan Dunn, David 'The Hoff' Hasselhoff, Hugh 'Playboy' Hefner, supermodels Jodie Kidd, Caprice and Tyson Beckford, Kill Bill's Daryl Hannah, action sports legends Tony Hawk, Matt Hoffman, Carey Hart, and rock stars including Snoop Dogg, Travis Barker, Jamiroquai and Xzibit.
Incorporating a new 3000 mile route each year, the attraction of the Gumball transcends social barriers, appealing to the adventurer in everyone, regardless of status or wealth; combining grease, glamour and guts in equal measures, stretching the experiences of travel and entertainment - just that bit further. Over the past 10 years Gumball 3000 has been hosted by Kings and Presidents, partied with Snoop Dogg, appeared on the Jay Leno Show, raised awareness for testicular cancer, chartered the worlds 3 largest aircrafts, created untold amounts of 'Jackass' fuelled mayhem, hung out at Hugh Hefner's, and most recently has been invited to work with the United Nations, all through the language of the motor car.
