It is our goal to create a great meeting that invites all segments of our industry into 'the tent' so that we can learn and share and network with one another.

Registration for the Globalization and Localization Association's first ever conference has just opened at http://www.language-of-business.org. "GALA 2009: The language of business. The business of language." will be held 14 - 16 September 2009 at the J.W. Marriott in Cancun, Mexico and will provide GALA members and industry professionals with education and networking opportunities unparalleled in the industry.
GALA 2009 will provide attendees with many tools essential for business in a down economy. Its goal is to provide a new and more dynamic platform for education, sharing of resources and networking.
"Great meetings offer a broad palette of workshops, education, services and networking opportunities, and great meetings include the large and small players in the industry," said Jim Hollan, executive director of GALA. "It is our goal to create a great meeting that invites all segments of our industry into 'the tent' so that we can learn and share and network with one another."
Hollan acknowledges that the field in the localization industry is crowded, but emphasizes that GALA 2009 will raise the bar, providing an experience for the whole person and ensuring that attendees leave with tools and ideas that will make a difference in their business careers. "GALA 2009 is not the same old, same old. We are building something new, and we invite everyone in our sector to join us," said Hollan.
Hollan and his team at GALA have assembled a star group of professionals to develop content for GALA 2009. Kim Harris, past GALA board chair and chair of the program committee, explains: "We are sifting through a remarkable group of potential keynote speakers and presentation proposals. We will announce the schedule and speakers in April."
