it was a great privilege to fish around the world with famous angling writers. But I realized that I was addicted to the streams and 'cricks' of Central Wisconsin.

"Some people go to shrinks; others practice yoga; I go trout fishing to clear my head. The Dow-Jones, Nasdaq, bills, payments, problems; who cares! They all disappear when I'm fishing the sacred waters of Le Shack," Jim Chapralis explained. Because the fish are still difficult to fool and virtually impossible to catch, he wondered if his fly fishing passion was an addiction or insanity.
Times always change, but the fundamental spirit and camaraderie remain for members of Le Shack…a very special fishing place.
Le Shack -- a very special fishing place, Jim C. Chapralis's most recent book, shares the real tale of an endearing, rustic fishing cabin and the engaging experiences of a dozen anglers who founded the shack 50 years ago.
"Through the years, I have told people stories of Le Shack. No matter where they live, whether they fish or not, or just enjoy the outdoors, many say it reminds them of their own experiences…a cabin or lodge hidden in the woods away from it all with its own stories and characters," Chapralis said.
Le Shack introduces Le Shack's original members and its traditions, and is laced with many expert tips for small stream fly fishing. Inspiring and informative, Le Shack will delight anglers and non-anglers alike with the tales of the charismatic guests, their quirky experiences at the shack, and their practical tips regarding rods, reels, and catching more fish. Facing rivers swollen with rain. Wearing river branches as camouflage to catch fish. Watching for sink holes that suck your legs in. Fishing under the sun or under the midnight moon. It's all here.
Author Jim C. Chapralis was fortunate enough to fish in almost 40 countries, going to some as many as a dozen times, during his 35 years in pioneering the international fishing travel business. "Believe me," Chapralis noted, "it was a great privilege to fish around the world with famous angling writers. But I realized that I was addicted to the streams and 'cricks' of Central Wisconsin."
Author Jim C. Chapralis was a champion tournament caster. He also authored Fishing Passion, Master Your Fly Casting, World Guide to Fly Fishing, and co-authored Fishing Escapes. He passed away in late 2007, just weeks after Le Shack was published.
