Best Construction Website Trends Detailed in New Report from the Web Marketing Association

Updated Web Marketing Association' Internet Standards Assessment Report Includes Historical Data Derived from a Decade of Hosting Internet Award Competition, WebAwards, and Provides Best Practices for Construction Web Design - The Web Marketing Association, host of leading website awards competition WebAwards, released the Internet Standards Assessment Report (ISAR) to help the construction industry learn to create more effective and engaging websites.

"As the standard of excellence for websites continues to increase, consumers (and WebAward judges) are increasingly picky about what they consider to be an effective website," said William Rice, president of the Web Marketing Association, Inc. "The best construction Websites are beginning to incorporate Flash and other multimedia into their pages. This results in a much richer online experience for potential customers and key stakeholders in development projects."

The WebAwards competition judges construction websites on seven criteria that combined create award-winning websites:

  •     Innovation
  •     Content
  •     Technology
  •     Interactivity
  •     Copywriting
  •     Ease of use

Construction Web sites have generally been in line with the overall ISAR index and has equaled or exceeded the index seven out of twelve years. Underperformance in four of the past six years has resulted in construction Web sites falling below the 5-year criteria benchmarks in all areas. Construction sites score strongest in design, content and ease of use. They post lower scores in innovation, technology, and interactivity.

The 2008 WebAward for Best Construction website went to Faction Media for the Professionals Web Site.
