Vector's integration with the VxWorks platforms further extends the comprehensive design, code, test, and management capabilities of the Wind River Workbench development environment

Vector Software, a leading provider of software test tools for embedded systems, today announced support for unit and integration testing of VxWorks Real-Time Process (RTP) applications and VxWorks 653 time-and-space partitioned applications. The VectorCAST integration supports both the C and C++ development languages. This integration enables test execution using both the vxSim VxWorks simulation environment and on development and deployment boards, using any of the Wind River VxWorks 6 and VxWorks 653 Board Support Packages.
VxWorks RTPs are containers for user mode applications, which ensure memory separation of the user application from the kernel. Each RTP has its own copy of code and data, including a separate heap and stack area. VxWorks 653, a complete implementation of the ARINC 653 specification, creates time- and space-based partitions for isolating applications in separate address spaces for higher robustness and safety. The VectorCAST generated test harness is built and executed inside the RTP or partition under test, ensuring that testing occurs in the same context that the deployed application will execute. The use of the VectorCAST VxWorks integration enables software developers to test their target software to the highest
levels of safety criticality, including MCDC testing required by RTCA DO-178B and EUROCAE ED-12B.
