I should have known better than to have made that bet as the staff at Endeavor never fail in exemplifying their strong sense of team and positive attitude. Our folks trained and ran hard, and I'm awfully proud of them as well as the recent commitments many others in our company have made about their personal physical fitness.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 2, 2009
Endeavor Telecom, The Telecom Truck Roll Company for carriers, service providers, VARs, and equipment manufacturers, is pleased to announce that 16 of its staff members met the Q1 corporate fitness challenge and completed the third annual ING Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday March 29th. The 2009 ING Georgia Marathon hosted over 15,000 runners and over 45,000 total participants, utilizing its partnerships with several non-profit organizations and their fundraising activities to help promote the sport of running and attract new runners. The race's 26.2-mile and 13.1-mile courses began at Centennial Olympic Park in the heart of downtown, took runners throughout downtown Atlanta, as well as several historic districts and scenic neighborhoods and concluded by CNN Center.
While the scenery of the course could not be more ideal, there was a particularly interesting runner in the mass of 15,000. At the close of last year, Endeavor CEO Justin McLain issued a challenge to the operations staff that if fifteen Endeavorers would complete a half (13.1 miles) or full (26.2 miles) marathon by the end of Q1 2009, he would run the full marathon painted Blue. On Sunday, he honored his promise to the staff and ran the entire 26.2 miles covered head-to-toe in "Endeavor blue" paint.
To prepare for the race, the Endeavor team tracked their weekly training mileage on a large chart mounted on display in the TAC Staff Common Room. During 21 weeks of training, the Endeavor team clocked in over 3,000 total miles. Also, several team members participated in a variety of local 5K and 10K fun runs while training for the marathon. Endeavor staffers Russell Ahmed, Jennifer Baron, Melissa Blose, David Cardenas, John Chapman, Craig Coogler, Ashley Crutchfield, Tony Edwards, Punit Gupta, Paul Kirchoff, Jacki Kirsch, Amanda McBurnett, Mike McLaren, Andrew Schroer, & Spencer Smith all successfully trained for and completed the ING Half Marathon this past weekend. In addition to the marathon and half-marathon, Endeavor also had participants in a 5K run which took place the day before in Grant Park.
"The ING has been a great demonstration of our staff's ability to meet a challenge and absolutely would not have been a success without the hard work of Jacki Kirsch, a certain member of the administrative services department who not only ran the race with 'Endeavor Blue' hair but also organized and coordinated everything with the Endeavor marathon team" says Justin McLain, Endeavor's CEO; "I should have known better than to have made that bet as the staff at Endeavor never fail in exemplifying their strong sense of team and positive attitude. Our folks trained and ran hard, and I'm awfully proud of them as well as the recent commitments many others in our company have made about their personal physical fitness."
