Cabarete, North Shore, Dominican Republic (PRWEB) April 2, 2009
Cabarete's first luxury brand, Palmera de Cabarete Resort & Spa, puts wind in the sails of Laser sailing with its 2009 sponsorship of Master Sailor Ari Barshi, founder of Cabarete's Laser Training Center and the annual Caribbean Laser Midwinter Regatta, the official opening event of the Laser racing year. Barshi and his sailboat will wear the Palmera de Cabarete logo at 2009 Laser regattas in Florida, California, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Spain, and Canada.
Palmera de Cabarete Resort & Spa opens in 2011 on the Dominican Republic's north coast in the town of Cabarete, the "adventure sports capital of the Caribbean."
"The sponsorship of Barshi, as well as Palmera's sponsorship of the 2009 and 2010 Caribbean Laser Midwinter Regatta, underscores our commitment to further establishing Cabarete as synonymous with peerless, Olympic-quality Laser sailing. We're delighted that Ari Barshi and the Palmera de Cabarete name will serve as an ambassador for Cabarete throughout the sailing world," said Darren Law, President and Chief Executive Office of NID Holdings, LLC, developer of the oceanfront Palmera de Cabarete, which will have 138, two, three and four-bedroom suites available for purchase.
Ari Barshi's Laser Training Center in Cabarete is where Olympic athletes train, including 2008 Olympians Anna Tunnicliffe (USA), Paul Goodison (UK), Rasmus Myrgren (Sweden), and Gustavo Lima (Portugal). For the 2008 Olympics, a total of 19 teams trained in Cabarete.
Cabarete has gained preeminent stature in the Laser sailing world due to the quality of Barshi's Center, as well as to the range of conditions for both champion and novice sailors. The waters off Cabarete Beach are protected by a large reef, perfect for beginning sailors who come to Cabarete for the variety of adventure activities - surfing, kiteboarding, mountain biking, hiking, and canyoning. Beyond the reef, the wind and wave conditions are ideal for hardier sailors.
"Palmera's role is very promising in the further development of Laser sailing in Cabarete," said Barshi. "The partnership between sailing and a luxury brand, particularly a resort like Palmera de Cabarete, is a natural, and will continue to draw athletes and enthusiasts to Laser sailing, among them, we hope, prospective owners and guests of Palmera de Cabarete," he concluded.
The Caribbean's adventure sports capital will get its first luxury resort with the 2011 opening of Palmera de Cabarete Resort & Spa, located on 19.5 beachfront acres in Cabarete, on the north shore of the Dominican Republic. Valued at more than $200 million dollars, Palmera de Cabarete has attracted a prestigious team of designers and hospitality professionals whose pedigree includes Ventanas al Paraiso in Los Cabos and The Regent Palms in the Turks and Caicos. Palmera de Cabarete enjoys 1,000 feet of private shoreline, part of one of the longest expanses of uninterrupted beach in the Caribbean. Plans feature 138 two-, three- and four-bedroom exquisitely appointed designer suites, sized from 2,000 to more than 4,500 square feet and available for purchase.
