Celtic American Musician Marc Gunn Releases "Heart's Ease"

Celtic American Musician Marc Gunn has released "Heart's Ease," an all-instrumental CD of original works featuring Gunn's instrument of choice, the autoharp. (PRWEB) April 3, 2009 -- Celtic American Musician Marc Gunn has released "Heart's Ease," an all-instrumental CD of original works featuring Gunn's instrument of choice, the autoharp. Described by Gunn as a "pure labor of love," the CD reflects fantasy themes, Celtic music forms and explores the full range of the unusual instrument.

"Instrumental albums will never be my best sellers," said Gunn, known for powerful vocal performance at Renaissance faires, Celtic venues and festivals. "But I love all-instrumental albums myself, and know that people will discover that pure instrumentals really allow listeners to focus on the beauty of the music itself, not the personality of the singer."

"Heart's Ease" includes 14 songs written by Gunn over the course of several years. Standouts include the title song, named for a common wildflower also known as "love-in-idleness." Gunn says that the name reflects the intent of the album overall. "Instrumental music is very relaxing, and is routinely used in therapies of all kinds for reducing stress levels. I hope 'Heart's Ease' can help people in that way."

Gunn notes that releasing an all-instrumental CD is largely made possible by the fact that he is an independent working musician. "Record labels probably would not take the risk," he notes. "I have loyal fans who will buy this CD, and if I cover my costs, it's worth it."

Marc Gunn is also a podcaster of note, whose "Irish and Celtic Music Podcast" recently climbed to No. 11 on iTunes in advance of St. Patrick's Day. "Podcasting is one more way I can bring independent music to lots of people," noted Gunn. "This podcast gets 30,000 downloads each time it's published, and closer to 50,000 for the St. Patrick's Day show. Goes to show you the impact of the Internet in general, and on distribution of music in particular."
