Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester Hires Director of Clinical Services and Spiritual Care Coordinator

Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester (HPCW) announced that Carmel resident Andrea Durkin, R.N. will serve as Director of Clinical Services and that Cold Spring resident Jesse Caudill has been hired as Spiritual Care Coordinator.

Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester (HPCW) announced that Carmel resident Andrea Durkin, R.N. will serve as Director of Clinical Services and that Cold Spring resident Jesse Caudill has been hired as Spiritual Care Coordinator.

As Director of Clinical Services, Durkin is responsible for the clinical oversight of HPCW's programs. Prior to joining HPCW, she was Program Manager for HIV/AIDS + Palliative Care at Montifiore Medical Center, where she oversaw the redesign of the HIV/AIDS Home Care program as well as the development of the Palliative Care program for the Medical Center's home health agency.

Durkin is a past co-chair of the Steering Committee of the HIV Network of Hudson Valley Chapter. She currently serves on the board of advisors for the Rutger Hauer Starfish Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of HIV/AIDS.

"Andrea brings a wealth of experience in palliative care to our patients and their families. We are looking forward to implementing her innovative programs," said Kate Colburn, M.A., Executive Director of HPCW.

She is a graduate of Dorothea Hopfer School of Nursing at Mount Vernon Hospital, and is currently enrolled in the BSN/MSN program at Mercy College.

Caudill will conduct spiritual and bereavement counseling for HPCW's patients and their families. He will also provide their spiritual care. Prior to joining HPCW, he served in the same position at United Hospice of Rockland County, in New City.

Caudill holds a certification in Thanatology from the Association of Death Education and Counseling and is ordained as an interfaith minister and received ordination in Buddhist Ministry from the New Seminary. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. He also holds a Masters of Library Science from Indiana University.

"Jesse's commitment to the emotional well-being of patients and their families will enable him to establish relationships with them so that we can tailor their care regimen accordingly," Colburn said. "His work will enhance the last days of our patients' lives tremendously."
