Our physicians want tools that will reduce administrative tasks and save time, freeing them to focus on patient care
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) April 6, 2009
Martha Jefferson Hospital, a community hospital serving the greater Charlottesville, Virginia area, has awarded a contract to 3M Health Information Systems for 3M™ VoiceScript™ Software, a comprehensive dictation management system designed to improve physician satisfaction. The hospital will use 3M VoiceScript in conjunction with 3M's complete speech recognition solution to streamline provider workflow, decrease transcription turnaround time, and improve documentation accuracy.
"Our physicians want tools that will reduce administrative tasks and save time, freeing them to focus on patient care," said Jean Harrell, Health Information Management (HIM) Director for Martha Jefferson Hospital. "With automatic prompts, such as pre-compiled components of the discharge summary, 3M VoiceScript offers the flexibility and intuitive features that physicians demand. Our medical staff is excited to get started with the new system."
3M VoiceScript automates dictation technologies and manages physician voice files in a highly scalable centralized database that can be hosted on a hospital's network. The software offers a choice of dictation methods-- phone, PC, or mobile device--that easily integrate with provider work habits, making it possible to dictate anytime, anywhere. With flexible user customization features, 3M VoiceScript offers physicians greater control over the dictation process, resulting in less time spent completing documentation and more time for patient care.
According to Harrell, Martha Jefferson Hospital will integrate 3M VoiceScript with a full range of 3M software already installed, including 3M™ ChartScript™ Software for transcription, 3M™ SyncStream Intelligent Language Processing Software for back-end speech recognition, and the 3M™ Coding and Reimbursement System, which is used to code and group patient data for decision support, quality measurement, and reimbursement. "Hospitals today need to take advantage of every resource available to contain costs and work more effectively," Harrell noted. "Our plan is to use 3M's dictation and transcription products integrated with their industry-leading coding software to create a rising tide of efficiencies for our HIM department."
"This contract builds on our long-standing partnership with Martha Jefferson Hospital and we're very excited to support them in their efforts to streamline workflow and improve quality of care," said Ray Terrill, Senior Vice President for 3M Health Information Systems. "By offering advanced software solutions like 3M VoiceScript, we can help clients bring about real process change and achieve sustainable improvement."
