Brophy, who assumed his new duties on March 2, has more than 25 years of experience in board leadership and corporate governance of for-profit companies and not-for-profit organizations. He also is an experienced healthcare executive, having extensively served for 14 years as a chief executive officer of hospitals in healthcare systems.

He also will mentor board members and CEO candidates, serving as a consultant and trusted advisor to both.
Brophy served as a member of the board of directors of the Illinois Hospital Association, HealthNet -- a managed care company, Association Venture Corporation and three hospitals. Brophy is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. He will work closely with Kathy Noland, RN, Ph.D., senior vice president of executive search, and Julee Thompson, RN, MSN, MBA, senior vice president of consulting solutions, both of whom will remain closely involved in CEO-related initiatives.
According to Smith, Brophy's commitment to quality has led to significant awards for several hospitals where he served as president, including the Missouri Quality Award and the American Hospital Association's Quest for Quality Award.

He was directly involved in the sale of one hospital and completed the successful merger of two other hospitals," Smith said.
