Inventor Matt Potts Announces No More Reef Stash #1
Matt Potts, inventor of ArchPort TM shoes, has dismissed his patent infringement law suit (CASE NO. C07 05213 BZ, United States District Court, Northern District of California) against VF Outdoor in view of changes to the marketing and manufacturing activities promised and fulfilled by VFO this year. VFO has ceased manufacturing and marketing the Reef Women's Stash #1 with removable compartment in the sole.
Fremont, Calif. (PRWEB) April 10, 2009 -- Matt Potts, inventor of ArchPort TM shoes, has dismissed his patent infringement law suit (CASE NO. C07 05213 BZ, United States District Court, Northern District of California) against VF Outdoor in view of changes to the marketing and manufacturing activities promised and fulfilled by VFO this year. VFO has ceased manufacturing and marketing the Reef Women's Stash #1 with removable compartment in the sole. VF refused to disclose sales volumes for the Reef Stash #1, and the parties stopped short of a full settlement.
"Since VFO has stopped manufacturing and marketing the Reef Stash #1, damages are limited to sales to date, which while significant, do no warrant further legal action at this time," Potts says.
The law suit was filed after Mr. Potts learned of the Reef product in November of 2006. At that time Mr. Potts offered to license his patent (US Patent 6,094,844) to VFO, however, VFO declined to take a license, but said that they would cease marketing and manufacturing the Reef Stash #1 with removable compartment after Spring of this year.
Matt Potts is also the founder of ArchPort shoes, who has been selling footwear with removable compartments in the soles for over 8 years. ArchPort Shoes was a 2004 winner of Invent Now America, an event sponsored by the US Patent Office and Popular Mechanics Magazine. The invention has been covered by news magazine and major networks throughout the US and the world.
