New York, NY (PRWEB) April 10, 2009
MetroSofa, owned by modern shed green builder, MetroShed, has launched unique furniture using in-house printed fabric from any high resolution file. Usually reserved for interior designers, MetroSofa's forward thinking is enabling anyone to create a unique chair or sofa.
If you walk into any boutique designer hotel or restaurant (or even into fashionable department stores) chances are you have walked passed or even sat in a MetroSofa piece of 'modern antique' furniture. The designers behind MetroSofa had a problem while working with a client in New York City. How could they include large portraits of a family of four in a space with no room for more artwork? The answer came over dinner, MetroSofa printed the stylized black and white family portaits (including two pet dogs) on the back of dining chairs. Thus creating the start of printable fabric chairs and sofas.
The printable cotton upholstery fabric is all done in-house at MetroSofa on special large format printing machines. Giving residential and commercial clients the freedom to use any of their own images, corporate logos, photos or artwork on their chairs or couches. To date, high profile customers from NYC to LA have requested their logos for unique reception chairs, hotel lobby seating and retail furniture for fashion brands and changing rooms.
Owner, David Ballinger, commented 'Our discovery of unique printable fabric gives interior designers, marketing companies and advertising agencies, a great way of creating furniture with a wow factor. We can now print any image, logo or photo on fabric for upholstering our modern antique chairs or sofas - from French provincial couches and settees to ornate Louis armchairs and dining chairs. We can now control the frame color as well as the fabric in a completely creative way...whatever you can think of we can now create it.'
Because GDM Ltd., as owner of MetroShed has been a 'green' producer since 1995, MetroShed is continuing its green manufacturing processes with the Metro Sofas. "MetroSofa bridges the gap between the big box furniture stores and one-off interior designer pieces," David Ballinger continued. "I wanted to create a range that would inspire others to realize they don't have to settle for something they see in a local big box store. If they can dream it, we can make it."
With a team of upholsters on hand, approximately 5,000 fabrics on hand and approximately 500 chair and couch frames ready to re-upholster, MetroSofa has the ability to react quickly to a customers request. Jennifer Stout stated, "We have an extensive back catalogue of furniture items that we can reference with a customer that gives them control over their vision...or of course we can design something for the customer for a specific room, or involving a specific fabric, color or pattern. We now have a consistent stock of very unusual furniture and classic frames that are all ready to re-do."
MetroSofa armchairs, parlor chairs, occasional chairs, French Louis chairs, chaise loungers, couches, loveseats and sofas are completely stripped and re-built to 'new again' condition. The 'donor' recycled sofas and chairs are injected with new life and completely overhauled to create modern antique pieces for generations of use. MetroSofa uses only the finest materials from the fabrics to the cushioning to provide the customer with style and comfort.
The Metro Sofa.com website also gives interior designers a new way of finding and customizing eco-friendly green furniture. MetroSofa works directly with Interior Designers from west coast to east coast (Los Angeles, CA to New York, NY) to bring their own design ideas to life in the form of unique custom made furniture for their clients.
MetroSofa is a low-impact 'green' furniture manufacturer creating 'new again' classic modern antique sofas and chairs from antique, recycled or reclaimed sofa and chair frames. MetroSofa is owned by UK-based design and marketing consulting company, GDM (Duplication) Ltd. GDM was created in 1995 by David Ballinger, the UK's ex-brand / marketing director for reality TV pioneer, Endemol Entertainment (creators of Changing Rooms, Trading Spaces, Extreme Home MakeOver, Big Brother, Ground Force and Fear Factor). GDM opened U.S. operations in Pennsylvania in 1999 and in New Jersey in 2000 to service clients such as Western Union, BMW, PepsiCo, as well as Daimler-Chrysler, Nestle, Mini, Rolls-Royce, Kia Motors and Chevrolet. GDM continues to be at the forefront of modern design with the MetroSofa, representing style, modern simplicity and value.
