Grande Prairie Public Library District will present a reading of Dr. Martin Luther King's, "Letter From A Birmingham Jail", Saturday, April 18, at 2:00 pm with special guest readers: Rev. Isaac West, Rev. Mack Mason, Rev. Bill Reed, Rev. George Harris, Jr., Rev. LeRoy Weatherspoon, and IL. State Rep. Will Davis.

On April 12, 1963, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was arrested for breaking an Alabama injunction against demonstrations in Birmingham. While in solitary confinement, he read a letter from Alabama clergymen that had been published in the New York Times. The letter criticized Dr. King for provoking civil disturbances. "Letter From A Birmingham Jail" is Dr. King's response to the criticism.

It's been 45 years since the creation of one his most significant and prolific manuscripts. Join us as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This event is free for all ages!
