Doppo Nagata is a composer, producer and flutist. Doppo journeyed through his Japanese history and found that hidden sound which is layered deep in the spirit. It's a happy and joyfull side of Japanese music.

Fusing sounds from the East to sounds of the West, Doppo created that signature sound he could only call his own. It is a happy and joyful side of Japanese music. He uses Japanese traditional scales and harmony, Japanese tone of flute and a new approach to the sound itself.

Los Angeles, California - Doppo Nagata is a composer, producer and flutist. He started playing piano at a young age of 5 with a strong classical music foundation. He chose double bass to be his main instrument at the music college in Japan. After graduating, Doppo pursued a pop music career. Although he was born in Japan, initially he was producing various pop, rock, jazz, Bossa Nova and soundtracks. Doppo has Progressive Rock influence from Frank Zappa, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Miles Davis and also R&B influence from Stevie Wonder, Mariah Cary and Luther Vandross. However, a few years ago, he decided to produce something unique at the local Japanese Festivals. He conceptualized "The Soul of Japan". He started composing tunes which had a Japanese flavor.

Doppo journeyed through his Japanese history and found that hidden sound which is layered deep in the spirit. Growing up in Japan made him very sensitive to Japanese melodies. Fusing sounds from the East to sounds of the West, Doppo created that signature sound he could only call his own. It is a happy and joyful side of Japanese music. He uses Japanese scale and harmony, Japanese tone of flute and a new approach to the sound itself.

Doppo has had solo concerts at local churches with attendance of more than 150 people each time. His Youtube video has more than 72,000 hits in two years.

Doppo's new single, "Matsuri", is off of his new album titled, "The Resonator". Matsuri means "village of harvest festival" in Japanese. And this song is a traditional Japanese song. His arrangement on this particular song was specific to capture a young crowd.    This single is representative of all the songs on his new album. They are happy, joyful tunes, with an array of sounds and textures perfectly melted together to create that unique sound. The flute influence in his songs are quite apparent.    It is as a voice is speaking. You hear a story - a beginning - a middle - and an end. A total joy to listen to.
