MapleWorks Technology Announces Paul Gasparro as Panelist at New England-Canada Business Council's Business Technology Forum

MapleWorks' Co-Founder Shares Industry Expertise On Doing Business in Canada

Gatineau, Quebec (PRWEB) April 10, 2009 -- MapleWorks Technology, a leader in onshore Software Outsourcing solutions and services for the voice, data & Video Convergence, network communications and Telecommunications industries, announces that Paul Gasparro, company co-founder and vice president of business development, has been selected as a panelist at the New England-Canada Business Council's (NECBC) 10th annual Business Technology Forum. The forum takes place April 16th at the Colonnade Hotel in Boston. Paul will be on the panel scheduled to take place from 1:35- 2:45pm, discussing "Doing Business in Canada - Challenges and Opportunities."

The New England-Canada Business Council, Inc. was formed in 1981 to bring together businesses and individuals with an interest in the U.S.-Canada relationship and, more specifically, New England-Canada political, economic, business and cultural affairs. Today, the Council's membership is composed of business leaders from a wide range of sectors including finance, law, consulting, energy, and high technology, as well as government and academic officials and individuals with links to Canada. Membership in the NECBC is open to all with an interest in fostering the growth of our historic and strategic New England-Canada ties.

MapleWorks' location in Canada overcomes the principal inhibitors to onshore Software Outsourcing, which have been identified as operational difficulties and perceived Intellectual Property (IP) security risks. On the operational side, geographical proximity, common time zones, and common development culture and language all significantly mitigate operational fears and risks. Canada has the same patent and trademark protection systems as in the U.S., and has the reputation of placing the same degree of respect that is expected in the U.S.

With more than 1,800 technology companies in the area, the Ottawa Tech Region is Canada's Silicon Valley, and opportunities for technological innovation are ever-increasing. Ottawa is an established global technology center, with a strong mix of multinational organizations and small to medium-sized businesses. Ottawa contains the second highest concentration of science and engineering employment in North America and is one of the world's top sites for R&D. Ranked as Canada's most sustainable city, Ottawa is Canada's least expensive city for cost of living, and is in the Top 20 in the world for quality of life.

MapleWorks Technology is paving the way with dynamic advancements and technologies in the onshore Software Outsourcing, data & Video Convergence, network communications and Telecommunications industries. For example, MapleWorks has had an opportunity to participate in the development and delivery of some very exciting products, such as the concept of the "Triple Play": cable, high speed internet access, and telephone services all from one provider. Cable and telephone service providers have targeted this market with great emphasis. Through this Telecommunications triple play approach, service providers try to secure dominance in the network communications market. MapleWorks has been a part of the development of software that enables the delivery of the Voice over IP (VoIP) telephone services as a part of the triple play, and the Company's software enables the service provider to provide the telephone features that consumers assume are standard: call forwarding, call waiting, 911, etc.
