Essay Contest Rewards Futurist Thinkers

The Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN) announced today its "Beyond Tomorrow: The Future of the Nonprofit Sector" Essay Contest in an effort to generate and endorse "bottom-up" thinking in the sector. Prizes include complimentary pass to Nonprofit Summit Conference and unprecedented recognition among Georgia's nonprofit community both in person and online.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 11, 2009 -- The Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN) announced today its 'Beyond Tomorrow: The Future of the Nonprofit Sector' Essay Contest. In keeping with the theme of its upcoming 18th Annual Nonprofit Summit, 'Horizons: The Future of Nonprofits,' applicants are asked to submit a written essay stating their vision of the future of the nonprofit sector. The deadline for submitting the essay is April 15, 2009.

"Today, our nonprofit sector is experiencing difficult times. However, we know the lessons learned will equip us for an even brighter future ahead. Nonprofit leaders and those committed to improving our community have great ideas about how we can strengthen the sector and we want to hear about them," says Karen Beavor, President and CEO of The Georgia Center for Nonprofits.

One winning essay will be chosen from submissions nationwide. The winner will receive the following:

  • One complimentary registration (valued at $349) to the 18th Annual Nonprofit Summit, May 11-12, 2009, where more than 500 nonprofit professionals will gather to share ideas and solutions to strengthen the nonprofit sector
  • Acknowledgement at the Summit and opportunity to read essay
  • Name and essay featured on GCN website

All essays must be less than 1000 words, and should address how the nonprofit sector can be strengthened; what aspects of the sector need to change; and what new ideas and innovations must be implemented to help ensure the sector is a healthy and sustainable pillar of the community - now and for future generations. Please note: Essays should address the sector as a whole, rather than a specific segment (i.e. the arts).
