New York City Schools and Orange County, Florida Schools are leading the nation in DimensionM education video games competition using math skills to advance

These schools represent the very essence of why we developed DimensionM in the first place - the students are engaged, excited, collaborating, and improving their mastery of math

Move over spelling bees and sports competitions. Thanks to educational video game maker Tabula Digita, a combination of gaming skills and math mastery are what it takes to earn bragging rights in school hallways. And today, the award-winning developer announced that New York City Schools and Orange County (FL) Public Schools are in the lead in its on-going National Multiplayer Tournament.

Responding to student enthusiasm for its DimensionM™ immersive gaming software, Tabula Digita created the on-going, online competition so students can play the action adventure game against other students -anytime, anywhere. The difference between DimensionM and other interactive online games, however, is that players must learn and master math and algebra skills to advance in the game.

Most recent results show New York City Schools topped the leaderboard having accumulated 167,604,524 points, followed by Orange County (FL) Public Schools with 98,086,149. Third place is currently held by Seminole County (FL) Public Schools with a score of 90,684,415. Rounding out the top 10 are Broward County (FL) Public Schools, Garland (TX) Independent School District, Chicago Public Schools, Las Cruces (NM) Public Schools, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD (TX), Volusia County (FL) Public Schools, and Lamar Consolidated ISD in Texas.

"These schools represent the very essence of why we developed DimensionM in the first place - the students are engaged, excited, collaborating, and improving their mastery of math," said Ntiedo Etuk, chief executive officer of Tabula Digita. "Adding educational video gaming tournaments to the mix -- be it in Texas, New York, Florida or anywhere else -- is a powerful way to add relevance to a student's education. They feel empowered to choose what they want to improve on, set their own pace, and take off on a learning adventure."

The DimensionM Multiplayer video games were designed to reinforce key math concepts from grades 3-12 through a series of cutting-edge, first-person action adventure missions that incorporate three-dimensional graphics, sound and animation comparable to those in popular video games. The DimensionM gaming software content is aligned to standards set by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics as well as several state standards.

Teachers are reporting that the DimensionM gaming technology is truly the most transformational teaching and learning tools they have come across. The games extend the reach of the conventional textbook and help create a dynamic classroom where the learning experience is enriched and enlivened.
