Derek Maxwell, the author of DIRTY GREEN HANDS made it quite clear that Controversial Organics (CO-OTC) is a fictional creation. Any resemblance that CO-OTC might have to any actual entity is purely coincidental. Any resemblance of persons in this novel to real persons, living or dead, is also purely coincidental.
ABOUT DIRTY GREEN HANDS:
DIRTY GREEN HANDS is a fast paced story of corporate intrigue, stock market hi-jinx, fraud, and murder.
Remo says Dawg is short for Dawgouski he says when asked -- but that's not his real name either. Remo is a likable, light-hearted, Boston based, private investigator. Dawg may be the least known but most wanted P.I. in the country. Retired from the FBI, some people once involved on the wrong end of Remo's past successes have long memories. They still want him dead.
Remo's junior partner is the beautiful and often quite funny Miss Candy Cain. Candy is a self-confessed Internet junkie and a hi-tech wizard.
A contact at the SEC, has referred a Mr. Hogg to Remo. Hogg has had some problems with a major stock investment he has made in a start-up organic fertilizer company, Controversial Organics.
Hogg doesn't blame the company's difficulties nor its management for the plummeting share price though perhaps he should. Rather, Hogg blames manipulations by shorts and particularly by a well organized nest of paid "bashers" for the shocking decline of its share price to that of a penny stock.
Hogg is an unpleasant and deceitful man in many ways. He is a fool in all ways. Among other things we soon find out that Hogg is in a glass house when he speaks of others floating false rumors and attempting to manipulate the CO stock price.
In North Boston, CO executives are feuding among themselves. In D.C., "the senator" is pulling deadly strings. Jersey landfills and Cape Cod cranberry bogs have roles to play. FBI types are watching and listening more than Dawg even knows.
A particularly amusing episode is a high stakes golf match between Hogg, Remo, Candy and a mysterious fourth person. Some might even say it is a "five-some". When the match finally occurs, it is one of the most bizarrely funny yet ultimately tragic golf matches in history -- real or imagined.
