DecisionWise, an international leader in the assessment of employee engagement, has announced the release of a groundbreaking survey instrument for specific use in the healthcare industry. The survey is the result of over 15 years of research with healthcare organizations on the assessment and development of employee engagement.

Unlike most surveys which use general questions to assess engagement across a broad range of industries, the DecisionWise Employee Engagement Assessment analyzes factors unique to organizations providing patient care. Factors such as employee stress, occupational safety adherence, patient focus, teamwork, and other healthcare-relevant areas are included on the survey to provide healthcare administrators the data they need to keep costs low, improve employee performance, and ultimately increase patient satisfaction.

DecisionWise director of consulting services, Paul Warner, remarked: "This survey is unlike anything currently on the market for two reasons. First, our extensive work with healthcare organizations has shown us that healthcare environments and employees are unique. This survey is specifically designed to address these unique factors. Second, most engagement surveys do not actually measure engagement, which we define as the intersection of motivation, satisfaction, and effectiveness. The result when these three factors come together is active participation in one's job, involving the heart, hands, and head. Most employee surveys simply analyze the efficacy of organizational initiatives or serve as a senior leadership report card. While these are important, the results explain little about the attitudes and make-up of the workforce. Furthermore, most organizations show little improvement year-to-year, as they do not know how to address the issues identified in the survey. Our survey gives an accurate reading of engagement and links actionable results back to organizational practices. Armed with this data, organizations then have a base from which to drive change."
