Right now there are two more major manufactuers of 406 MHz ELTs that are just waiting for FAA certification this spring.

Whenever aviation accidents occur, news outlets will report the decimation and the people involved, but in a general sense, these outlets rarely cover prevention or safety measures that could be taken. Erik Gordon is an airplane enthusiast with decades of experience as a pilot himself who keeps the notion of safety close to his heart.
In February 2009, Gordon launched http://www.SurvivalAviation.com, a website that specializes in Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELTs), airplane survival kits and survival gear, and Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs), all of which are available at affordable prices, an attribute that is perfect for recreational or commercial pilots and aircraft operators.
"I've owned my own airplane and oftentimes, there was very little - safety-wise - that was available," explained Gordon. "I wanted to offer something to really emphasize aviation safety."
The notable features of the site are the airplane ELT devices that are prominently featured on the website. Gordon is able to stock a large selection of the new style (406MHz) ELTs from all the major manufacturers and also has the history and technical information about them. And though the website is new, Gordon is aiming to add more items for a complete supply of aviation survival equipment.
"I'm looking to add more survival gear and ELTs," he said. "Right now there are two more major manufactuers of 406 MHz ELTs that are just waiting for FAA certification this spring."
Keeping readers in the know with FAA regulatory news, as well as new technology announcements is something that Gordon knows is important and as is such, he has simultaneously started an informational blog, http://www.ELTGuru.com.
"With the blog, we're going to have ELT information, the advantages of the new 406 MHz ELTs and personal locator beacons, and we'll also have rescue stories from aircraft accidents using the new 406 MHz ELTs." Gordon said.
As a blanket statement, nobody applauds a tragedy like an airplane accident, but thanks to someone like Erik Gordon, people can prepare themselves with safety kits and devices that are easily accessible and affordable and all it takes is an URL entry in the address bar.
