The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) announced a new addition to its senior staff today. Janna Zwerner will join NACDD as its Director of Operations, effective immediately. Throughout her career, Ms. Zwerner has displayed extraordinary leadership in the fields of public health, medicine and health care programming.
"We are delighted to have Janna Zwerner join our team," said John Robitscher, NACDD Executive Director. "Her enthusiasm and commitment to health care issues, as well as her depth of knowledge about programming, will enable NACDD to continue to expand the work we are doing to better prevent and manage chronic diseases across the country."
Before taking the post at NACDD, Ms. Zwerner served as Deputy Commissioner for Program Operations and Chief of Staff for the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) for nearly a decade. In this role, she was responsible for managing the overall operations of a state agency with more than 750 employees, and supervising the program evaluation, human resources, and communications functions. During her tenure at MRC, she also led the agency's long-term strategic planning initiative.
Prior to joining MRC, Ms. Zwerner served as Senior Associate for Stackpole & Associates, a public relations and marketing consulting firm, and as Executive Director for the National Spinal Cord Injury Association (NSCIA), a cutting-edge national membership, advocacy and research organization.
Ms. Zwerner has authored several publications, collaborated on two children's books and has contributed to the updates of "Our Bodies, Ourselves" subsequent to its first publication.
Ms. Zwerner holds a BA in Psychology and Sociology from Brandeis University, a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Arkansas Sate and has completed the Senior Executive Program at the John F Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
