The national gay & lesbian wedding resource,, has announced that it will produce two Same Love, Same Rights® Wedding Expos this spring back-to-back in Chicago and Detroit, bringing its tour of gay & lesbian wedding expos to the area for the first time. Having produced twenty-six such events throughout the nation since its first in 2003, RainbowWeddingNetwork continues to bridge same-sex couples with gay-friendly businesses that wish to offer their ceremony, honeymoon, travel and family-related services to this viable niche market. The much-anticipated Expos are scheduled for Sunday April 26, 2009 in Chicago from 12:30-3:30 pm at the distinctive Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza, and on Saturday May 2, 2009 in Detroit from 1:00-4:00pm onboard two private yachts, the Infinity & Ovation, docked at St. Clair Shores. Admission for both events is free to the public.

This is an important time for the LGBT minority in America

Chicago and Detroit have been selected as the latest locations for Rainbow Wedding Network's nationwide tour of Same Love, Same Rights® LGBT Wedding Expos. The events will be hosted by the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza, from 12:30pm-3:30pm on Sunday, April 26, 2009 and by Infinity and Ovation Yacht Charters on May 2, 2009 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm, aboard their two luxurious crafts anchored at the Jefferson Beach Marina in St. Clair Shores, MI. Given last week's legislation in other states in favor of gay & lesbian marriage rights, the LGBT Wedding Expos in Chicago and Detroit promise to be a timely resource for same-sex couples and gay-friendly business owners, as well as for all those who support the issues of equal marriage and family rights for the gay & lesbian minority.

Guests at each event will have the opportunity to meet more than forty screened, gay-friendly professionals involved with all stages of wedding planning from ceremony sites to reception venues, musicians and DJs, cake decorators, officiants and honeymoon travel experts. Real estate professionals, lawyers, and marriage equality organizations will also be spotlighted. In addition to the multitude of exhibitors, the Expos will feature music, samples, giveaways and interactive presentations. In Detroit attendees will also enjoy freely boarding the two beautifully outfitted private yachts aboard which the Expo will take place, sponsored by Infinity & Ovation Yacht Charters, a local company offering same-sex couples the unique option to legally marry in Canadian waters.

"This is an important time for the LGBT minority in America," states RainbowWeddingNetwork founder, Cindy Sproul. "Despite the heartbreak of Proposition 8 in California last November, the momentum toward equal marriage and family rights for gays and lesbians remains intact throughout our country. We believe the recent motions in Iowa, Vermont and Washington DC, along with legislation proposed earlier this year in Illinois, are evidence of vital and historic steps toward true respect and tolerance for all American families."

Couples, singles, advocates and allies from all surrounding areas are encouraged to take part: the Same Love, Same Rights® Expos in Chicago and in Detroit will present an atmosphere of Celebration, Activism and Joy and one of RainbowWeddingNetwork's primary goals through the landmark events is to bring various facets of the community together for networking opportunities and a fresh level of cohesion surrounding the issues of gay and lesbian rights. Both events have been endorsed by local LGBT organizations.

The Expos are free to attend and couples will take home a goodie-bag filled with inspirational ideas and contact information to assist in planning their perfect ceremony; in addition attendees will be invited to add their photograph to the Commitment Photo Album,™ an ongoing project to document LGBT couples and their families throughout the nation.
