Originate Labs, a technology venture resources firm, today announced it will exhibiting its most recent innovation, Open Applicant, at booth #208 the IHRIM (International Human Resources Information Management) conference in San Diego on April 20th and 21th , 2009.

Open Applicant is a feature-rich, open source Applicant Tracking System targeted at hiring managers and HR professionals. "We recognize that the world is under economic pressure to cut budgets, but people still need tools to run their businesses," comments Rob Meadows, CEO of Originate Labs. "Open Applicant gives professionals access to an Applicant Tracking System that is as robust as the competition, part of an open source community, and free to download."

Beyond applicant and prospective candidate tracking, Open Applicant also features resume parsing and candidate assessment components to help hiring managers quickly identify the most qualified candidates. HR professionals are able to immediately rank and search candidates based on keywords and custom skill assessments, going beyond what a normal ATS can do. According to Mr. Meadows, "our current candidate assessment and tracking tools are very powerful, but we are also interested in seeing how the community embraces this platform and begins building additional plug-ins. With open source, there are unlimited possibilities."

Some of the highlights of the Open Applicant platform are:

  •     Applicant Tracking
  •     Prospect Tracking
  •     Candidate Assessment
  •     Resume Parsing
  •     Advanced Search
  •     Automated Emails
  •     Report Generation
  •     Open Architecture

"There is an interesting paradigm here," comments Tyler Buck, Director of Products and Services at Originate. "People need software to help manage business critical processes like hiring, but have no budget to purchase them. Open Applicant will change that, and we are not going to stop at HR functions."

Open Applicant will be available to the community for download on April 19th, and developers will be able access the source code on Sourceforge. Users will be able to download and install Open Applicant for free, or subscribe to a hosted version for as little as $10/month.
