Community college students utilize the Internet for virtually every aspect of their student lives, including class registrations, payments, test taking, study modules and much more. However, one area inexplicably remains an Internet-free zone: scheduling appointments. Appointment-Plus, the industry leader in online scheduling software, has intensified its effort to bring cost-effective online student self-scheduling technology to community college campuses.
Despite the fact that students schedule appointments for advisors, counselors, professors, study rooms, testing centers and many other resources, the vast majority of scheduling is currently accomplished by calling an office to make an appointment. Many community colleges are unaware that Appointment-Plus can be implemented for entire departments for as little as $39 per month. Because the software is web-based, campus offices are not required to download software or even involve their IT departments.
Appointment-Plus is already being utilized in many large community college settings across the United States, including Salt Lake Community College, Seattle Central Community College, Community Colleges of Spokane, and Three Rivers Community Colleges. In fact, Appointment-Plus was recently a featured product for SunGard Education as a result of the implementation and use of Appointment-Plus at the six-campus Chippewa Valley Technical College.
Natalyn Marlaire, Student Support Specialist, at Chippewa Valley Technical College provided the following assessment of the Appointment-Plus online scheduling system. "Appointment-Plus made a big impact on incoming call volume in our assessment center. Students have the opportunity to schedule appointments 24/7, around their availability and also have the ability to change or reschedule existing appointments. It allows our recruiters and counselors to schedule COMPASS from the high schools opposed to calling in to make appointments, outlying campuses are able to schedule compass for any assessment center instead of forwarding a phone call to the main campus. The reporting capabilities allow me the ability to run accurate reports pertaining to individual campus sites or all sites. We are able to determine how many students schedule appointments on their own, as opposed to calling for appointments. Each campus runs a daily report which allows us to facilitate testing and assist students in an efficient manner."
Appointment-Plus has added many features to address the specific needs of colleges and universities, including the ability to allow a single student login process directly from a college's existing portal. Appointment-Plus also recently reached out to educate community colleges by attending the American Association of Community Colleges Annual Conference held in Phoenix, Arizona from April 4-7, 2009. Appointment-Plus offers all community colleges a free trial of the web-based software and a free dedicated setup coach to assist in staff training and getting the system optimized for each application.
