Marotta's MPACT® Completes Flight Worthiness Testing

Marotta Controls is proud to announce that its MPACT 3000 Pure Air Generation System (PAGS) has completed First Article Testing (FAT) and flight worthiness testing and is ready for service in the LAU-7 and LAU-127 launchers on the F/A-18A-F Hornet aircraft.

Marotta Controls is proud to announce that its MPACT 3000 Pure Air Generation System (PAGS) has completed First Article Testing (FAT) and flight worthiness testing and is ready for service in the LAU-7 and LAU-127 launchers on the F/A-18A-F Hornet aircraft.

The LAU-7 and LAU-127 rail launchers provide the electronic and mechanical interfaces between the missiles and the launch aircraft. MPACT is a complete pneumatic system that will supply the high-pressure pure air required to achieve on-board cryogenic cooling of the infra-red missile seeker. Its three main components are: a valve manifold assembly with integral accumulator/dryer technologies, a micro compressor, and an electronic controller designed by Marotta for this specific high-pressure pure air generating application.

Michael Leahan, vice president and chief sales officer at Marotta said he was pleased with the results of the testing. "This represents another step forward for MPACT and we hope this opens the door for integrating our high pressure pneumatic technology onto other platforms" he said. "It is our goal to move MPACT pure air compression technology into arms reach of any future weapon system that requires state-of-the-art high-pressure pneumatics."

While production on the LAU-7 and LAU-127 systems commence, development for the integration of MPACT technologies into other platforms is proceeding at a rapid pace and on many fronts. Marotta is working with the Boeing Company to integrate its MPACT system into the P-8A Poseidon Navy reconnaissance aircraft, and will provide the high-pressure compressed air required for weapon ejection on both the forward fuselage and wing pylon weapon stations. The MPACT is also under consideration for future programs such as Joint Air to Ground Missile (JAGM) and Multi Purpose Bomb Rack (MPBR).
