Secret Exit, founded in 2006, is a mobile game developer based in Helsinki, Finland. The company has received funding for product development from Tekes' Verso - Vertical Software Solutions programme.

"It is great that independent small game developers have the opportunity to launch new creative games that compete equally with the products released by larger game publishers. It was a fantastic surprise for us to win. We believe that this will reinforce Secret Exit's reputation among iPhone users and our potential partners as a high-quality game developer", says Jani Kahrama, who accepted the award on behalf of Secret Exit at the Game Developers Conference.

"Secret Exit has been able to make efficient use of Apple's digital distribution and marketing channel. Digital distribution is clearly the way of the future for distribution of games. The main advantages compared with traditional 'off the shelf' distribution include practically nonexistent distribution costs and the opportunity to shop anytime and anywhere", says Tekes' Keith Bonnici, programme manager of Verso.

Independent Games Festival is arranged in conjunction with Game Developers Conference, the world's largest annual game industry event.
