Burke Bros Managing Director, Gary Burke, said: "More and more people, who enjoy motorcycling, are insisting they take their motorbike along with them overseas. In fact, they are so fond of their favourite motorbike they are becoming more and more precious about its well being whilst being transported in the overseas shipping container".
Gary continued: "Last year we had a charming enquiry from a couple, Wayne & Jo Rhodes, who were moving from Leicester in the UK to Queensland in Australia, and they wanted to take their two prized Lambretta scooters with them, using our bespoke motorcycle crating service."
Wayne (Dust) said: "I've owned my 1970 Lambretta for over 22 years and if it could not go to Oz then neither was I. Jo has owned her 1959 Lambretta for a few years now and recently had it re-sprayed and she loves it! Thanks to Burke Bros our Lambretta Scooters arrived in Australia safe, sound, and in mint condition. Their special motorcycle crating service certainly did the trick, and we plan to recommend Burke Bros to all of our friends when planning the big move."
Yet another couple, from Wolverhampton, who are making final plans to move to Perth in Australia, own a Harley Davidson. The couple said: "Our Harley Davidson is our pride and joy and there's no way we're leaving it behind in the UK. The tailor-made motorcycle service offered by Burke Bros sounds an ideal way to safely ship our Harley to Australia."
Chris Starkey, Head of the Burke Bros International Department, said: "In response to this growing trend, this time last year we started offering a first-class motorbike crating service. The way it works is; we collect the customer's motorcycle from their home, in a purpose built motorcycle master van, we then transport the bike to our new specialist crating facility, we steam clean it and drain all lubricants like oil and petrol etc, then disconnect the battery ready for shipping. We then secure the motorcycle into a uniquely made metal frame, so the bike is completely and rigidly secure, and to finish off we box it with a protective wooden crate covering, ready for shipping abroad. This ensures the customer's motorcycle will get to its overseas destination with maximum protection and damage-free."
