DuPont™ SentryGlas® Invigorates Times Square Landmark
First Publicly Accessible Structure with Bearing Walls and Beams of Glass
New York (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 15, 2009 -- In a structure as theatrical as the shows for which it sells tickets, the TKTS Booth, long a fixture in the heart of Times Square, has been made over into a glass structure that would not have been possible without the strength and protection of DuPont™ SentryGlas® interlayers.
For more than 30 years, New York City theater-goers have bought TKTS theater tickets from a construction trailer in Times Square. The new frameless, all-glass structure adds a modern twist to this highly popular attraction. Sales now are conducted at ticket windows sheltered by a red glass awning supported by glass walls, both made with layers of DuPont™ SentryGlas® interlayers.
According to project engineer Michael Ludvik of Dewhurst, MacFarlane and Partners, safety was an obvious consideration in designing the all-glass public structure at this busy New York intersection.
