Continuity of Operations Program Policy and Planning
Budd Lake, NJ (PRWEB) April 17, 2009
Virtual Corporation, a provider of Business Continuity consulting and software, announced their Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning Software, Sustainable Planner®, can be hosted at a secure military datacenter. Federal government agencies and U.S. military organizations can acquire Sustainable Planner® via the GSA Schedule to build and maintain their plans and ensure their protection and availability by hosting the plans and software at a classified military data center in Southwest Virginia. Virtual's software and services received the award of its GSA Schedule for Consolidated Schedule from the General Services Administration (GSA). The schedule, contract number GS-00F-0003V, allows Virtual Corporation to provide products and services to government agencies as an approved, preferred vendor, and expedites the process of obtaining government contracts. Sustainable Planner can also be purchased and installed on client in-house computer system. TurboGSA, a national firm helping companies obtain GSA Schedules, assisted Virtual Corporation in acquiring its GSA award (http://www.turbogsa.com).
Government and Military COOP (continuity of operations) and CoG (continuity of government) plans contain sensitive information used to recover critical operations. Timely access to this information is instrumental to minimizing the impact of disruption from a disaster or other event. For some Government and Military organizations, recovery information may be classified. Through hosting at this secure military data center, Sustainable Planner® is available on both the NIPRnet and SIPRnet. Agencies can be confident that their data is protected and accessible from any location when needed.
"Being awarded this GSA contract is an important development in Virtual Corporation's expanding presence in the Government and Military Sectors," said Virtual Corporation's President Scott Ream. "The GSA Schedule ensures that our Government and Military clients receive the most favorable cost options offered. Making sustainable Planner available at an Army data center ensures that our Government and Military customers receive unparalleled security and access to their critical COOP, CoG and IT-Disaster Recovery plans."
Federal Government agencies within the Executive Branch are guided by "Federal Continuity Directives" FCD 1 and 2 issued in February of 2008. superseding Federal Preparedness Circulars (FPC) 60 and 65. "Continuity requirements must be incorporated into the daily operations of all agencies to ensure seamless and immediate continuation of Primary Mission Essential Function (PMEF) capabilities so that critical government functions and services remain available to the Nation's citizens." The Legislative and Judicial branches of the Federal Government have similar guidelines and policy regarding Continuity of Government (CoG), Continuity of Operations (COOP) and IT-Disaster Recovery.
Military organizations are guided by the DoD "Defense Continuity Program" DCP 3020.26 which states as its policy, "The Department of Defense shall have a comprehensive and effective Defense Continuity Program that ensures DoD Component Mission Essential Functions (MEF) continue under all circumstances across the spectrum of threats …" Each branch of the military is further guided by specific Continuity of Operations (COOP) policy such as the U.S. Army's "Continuity of Operations Program Policy and Planning" AR 500-3.
"Virtual Corporation has been assisting organizations for more than fifteen years to design, deploy and maintain their Business Continuity programs," Ream said when asked about Virtual's experience in the field. "Many organizations are frustrated by the effort to design and deploy initial BC plans only to see them stagnate and become irrelevant within a few years. Sustainable Planner® and Virtual's consulting resources focus on putting in place the process infrastructure necessary for planning to become a repeatable competency of the organization, ensuring that your initial investment in building BC plans becomes a sustainable BC program".
