Driving Success Seminars Address the Effects of Self-Esteem on Highway Safety

The Institute for Self Esteem and Evaluation, Inc. (ISEE) has announced a partnership with the Washington Metro Highway Safety Task Force to conduct a series of Self Esteem for Driving Success seminars throughout Prince George's County. The first session in the workshop series, 30 Minutes That Could Save Your Life will introduce self-esteem skills and driver safety as a necessary partnership to reduce the number of motor vehicle fatalities in Prince George's County.

Seminar facilitator, ISEE, Inc. Founder and Executive Director Frederick Penn, says low self-esteem can lead to poor decision making both inside and outside of a vehicle.

"Prince George's County has more fatalities resulting from motor vehicle crashes than any other jurisdiction in the state of Maryland. I firmly believe low self-esteem can adversely impact a driver's ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Additionally, if a driver lacks self-esteem, they could have a higher risk of being involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident. During the workshop series, we will focus on the important issue of self-esteem and its effect on highway safety. Participants are in for a lively and informative session."

The Washington Metro Region's Highway Safety Project Director Dana Gigliotti, says self-esteem and its relationship to highway safety, is an issue that deserves further exploration.

"Making good decisions is critical to changing behavior. With 93% of all crashes caused by driver error, changing behavior equals saving lives. We are excited to have Mr. Penn conduct this workshop series because it has the potential to save lives and make our highways safer - this is the ultimate goal."
