EQUELLA's digital repository enhances the Pearson eCollege learning platform with a powerful system that adds cross-application and cross enterprise content management, including robust searching, workflow management, and digital rights management

Pearson eCollege, which provides integrated education technology, engaging content and multi-level support services for online and blended learning, and The Learning Edge Group(TLEG), a leading digital repository software solutions provider for the educational market, have launched a seamless integration between their two solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, Pearson eCollege customers now have access to EQUELLA, an enhanced learning objects repository from TLEG that allows users to create, store, manage and share multiple types of educational content from a single learning object repository.

"EQUELLA's digital repository enhances the Pearson eCollege learning platform with a powerful system that adds cross-application and cross enterprise content management, including robust searching, workflow management, and digital rights management," said Matt Leavy, Chief Executive Officer of Pearson eCollege. "Educators who take advantage of EQUELLA will be able to gather and distribute content across many different applications and constituencies. This integration provides our educational partners with a powerful way of extending the Pearson eCollege system and enhancing the overall teaching and learning experience."

"EQUELLA enables content without borders," said Bob Cupit, Chief Executive Officer at TLEG. "Faculty members in Georgia can choose to share their content in the repository, and faculty members in Florida, North Carolina or even Australia can easily search and use that content in their own learning environments."

The EQUELLA digital repository provides access to multiple types of learning objects, regardless of where the content resides. Content can be stored locally (documents, presentations, spreadsheets, audio/video), on Web solutions (streaming audio, video, podcasts), in subscriptions to journals and articles (library content) and still be seamlessly available to the various users on and off campus or on mobile devices. TLEG has clients in North America, the United Kingdom, Australasia and Europe using the open platform to create, manage and share content. Pearson eCollege client institutions that elect to use EQUELLA will be able to unlock learning resources that are stored outside of the standard course library under the protection of digital rights management and copyright.

"This partnership with the Learning Edge Group's learning object repository is one example of how Pearson eCollege's learning platform integrates flexibly with the systems and solutions that educators want," said Anne Keehn, Pearson eCollege's Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing and Business Development, Higher Education and K-12. "Pearson eCollege's dedication to enhancing our customers' online and blended learning programs is at the center of our vision for providing personalized education resources for educators and students."

"We are pleased to announce the formalization of our relationship with Pearson eCollege," said Peter Van Tienen, General Manager at TLEG. "They are uniquely positioned in today's ever-changing education marketplace. Our philosophy of Content as a Platform perfectly aligns with what Pearson eCollege brings to the market from both a content and delivery perspective."
