Huntington Beach, CA (PRWEB) April 17, 2009 -- Jim Silva, a California Assemblyman, will be honoring Teacher Created Materials (TCM) as Small Business of the Year for California's 67th District at the upcoming California Small Business Day event to be held on May 26, 2009 in Sacramento.

Notification of the honor came via letter from Assemblyman Jim Silva recently and was well received by Rachelle Cracchiolo, CEO and founder of Teacher Created Materials. "This is a very prestigious honor that we are extremely proud of," says Cracchiolo. "We make every effort to publish effective tools for teachers and students in the classroom. Our educational vision is one that is conducive to a successful future for our community and beyond by listening to educators and helping to address their ever-changing needs." In fact, being named Small Business of the Year says to the community that such a business deserves special recognition for the very important contributions a company has made to both California and their communities.

The California Small Business Day event takes place annually and is organized by the California Small Business Association and hosted by legislative leaders. This year the notable event intends to celebrate the contribution of small businesses to California's economy. The all-day affair provides small businesses in California with an opportunity to share their concerns with lawmakers. This year the special event is scheduled to take place at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento.

Founded as a grassroots outgrowth of the 1980 White House Conference on Small Business, the California Small Business Association is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that seeks to provide small business with a significant voice in state and federal governments.
