BluFocus Teams with NetBlender to Introduce BD Touch 2.0

BD Touch 2.0 now includes a standard application for content owners and consumers which enables communication between a BD-Live player and a Wi-Fi handheld device.

Las Vegas, CA (PRWEB) April 17, 2009 -- BluFocus and NetBlender today announced that they have partnered to offer BD Touch 2.0, which now includes the BD Touch Application for WiFi-enabled devices, such as the iPhone, iPod Touch, Palm Pre, Google Android and Blackberry. The BD Touch Application takes advantage of NetBlender's BD Touch SDK technology that was introduced last year to iPhone developers that allows consumers to use their handheld devices to communicate with Blu-ray Title's and BD-Live Players.

The BD Touch Application is a ready-to-use program that provides all the basic functions of a remote control - play, pause and fast forward-plus a QWERTY keyboard for text entry, the ability to download media directly from the disc and/or player to your handheld device, launch downloaded files for later use and play interactive games.

"We are excited about the offering of the BD Touch Application to the industry and most importantly, to consumers. It has always been our goal to push the format and to ensure its success," said Paulette E. Pantoja, founder and CEO of BluFocus. "With BD-J and BD-Live, we have a tremendous opportunity to give consumers something they have come to expect from the Blu-ray format, compelling interactive features and content."

BD Touch will allow consumers to unlock Blu-ray's capabilities all within one application that is not specific to any studio.

With the need to keep BD production costs and timelines as close to parity with those of DVD as possible, NetBlender and BluFocus have ensured that BD Touch is affordable and easy to implement for developers. Because of this, any type of content producer or CE Manufacturer can easily apply BD Touch to their products.

"NetBlender's release of the BD Touch SDK technology last year marked a major milestone for developers. Through our work on BD Touch 2.0 and our partnership with BluFocus, consumers can now easily interact with BD content through their iPhone, iPod Touch or other mobile device," said John Harrington, CEO of NetBlender. "Now, any content creator can easily provide consumers with a completely interactive and compelling experience that will truly differentiate Blu-ray from all other digital media experiences."

See BD Touch in action at NAB on Tuesday, April 21st from 5-7pm at the Renaissance Hotel. From the iTunes store, download the BD Touch application to your iPhone or iPod Touch and come to the LIVE Demonstration to test it yourself.
