A recently released study led by Joseph A. Roscoe, Ph.D. of the University of Rochester and funded by the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Society concludes that Sea-Band Accupressure Wristbands are effective in reducing nausea associated with radiation-therapy used to treat cancer patients. The non intrusive wristbands place light pressure on the P6 acupressure point on each wrist. This all natural and easy to administer remedy is safe for children and adults.

nausea for cancer treatments, once it occurs, is often very difficult to control and yet these simple bands were effective in that effort. It is a low cost, non intrusive, safe adjunct to standard antiemetics that has great patient acceptance.

A just released study, conducted by Joseph A. Roscoe, Ph.D. of the University of Rochester's James P. Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester, NY indicates that similar to previous experimental research conducted, Sea-Band Wristbands are effective in controlling nausea in patients experiencing radiation therapy-related nausea. The study reports that "nausea for cancer treatments, once it occurs, is often very difficult to control and yet these simple bands were effective in that effort. It is a low cost, non intrusive, safe adjunct to standard antiemetics that has great patient acceptance." The use of Sea-Bands, as they are commonly called, causes no side effects and they are readily available over the counter at pharmacies and drug stores.

This independent study was partially funded by the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Society.

In 2004, the FDA approved Sea-Band Wristbands for use in preventing nausea and vomiting. Sea-Band Wristbands are the only FDA approved acupressure treatment of its kind in the United States. Long accepted in Eastern medicine and more recently in Europe as a cure for nausea and vomiting, acupressure and more specifically the pressure point P6, located between the two major tendons on the inside of the arm, approximately 2 inches below the crease of the wrist, is where Sea-Band Wristbands places light steady pressure via a plastic disc. The wristbands are comfortable to wear and can be worn for days at a time.

Sea-Band Wristbands are available in most drug stores throughout the United States. The cost per box is approximately $9.99. Each box contains 1 pair of wristbands in sizes for adults or for children. For additional information or to receive a sample, contact Leonard Nihan at 401.841.5900 or visit http://www.sea-band.com.
