The contest is open from April 17, 2009, and will close on December 31, 2009. The contest's rules request short stories that describe some wonderful, unexpected, surprising or prodigious incident in any country from Canada to Argentina that will help readers to know and understand better our common Heritage.

The founder of Amiqui.com, said that "People from all ages and from all American countries are encouraged to participate without limitation in the number of stories. The idea is to create an oasis where readers will be able to find uplifting tales, and narratives that will teach us something new or different about the Americas".

The stories may be submitted in English or in Spanish.

"I am very excited about this contest and I am looking forward to read the stories. In my experience as a college professor, I know how much talent is out there and I hope we will receive very moving stories," said Leslie Lambert, the editorial vice president.

The organizers of the contest believe that in times like these, it is important to remember all the marvelous things that the Americas have being able to offer to the world, now and in the past, and they hope that the contest will be a way to revise what is really important to the people living in all of the Americas.
