30 million people in the United Sates have type II diabetes, where the pancreas does not function properly and glucose levels fall outside the normal range. Health problems occur when glucose levels are too high, for too long.
While there are no known cures for type II diabetes, a successful diabetic management program usually consists of doctor prescribed medication while regularly monitoring blood sugar levels combined with diet and exercise. While diabetes risk factors are typically associated with a blood sugar readings over 130, normal blood sugar readings are under 100.
Ed Wevill was diagnosed with type II diabetes and took a pill every day to bring his sugar level down. "Even with the medication, my levels never got below 139," says Wevill. Wevill then called a professional personal trainer to help him with a fitness program.
In walked Kevin Brown, President of Visionary Trainers (http://www.VisionaryTrainers.com), a professional personal training company whose team of 42 trainers travel to clients homes in the Philadelphia and tri-state area. Wevill says, "It started off as a desire to cure my diabetes and joint pain and ended up being a huge transformation that exceeded my expectations."
"Most people focus almost exclusively on a fitness routine and do not understand how important good nutrition is towards controlling blood sugar," says Brown. "When Ed asked me to visit him and help his fight against diabetes, his expectations were very low. We developed a fitness program and provided some nutrition guidance. These actions almost immediately helped him get his blood sugar readings back to normal."
"I immediately lost 17 lbs and my wife lost 9," says Wevill. "Most people respond quickly to a new diet and exercise program, usually losing the most weight in the first four to eight weeks," says Brown.
"After only a few days of eating the right foods and listening to Brown's instruction, my blood sugar went down significantly. Today, my blood sugar level is now consistently under 100," Wevill said.
Brown teaches clients how to properly regulate one's blood sugar by eating real foods, consisting of foods rich in Vitamins A and D, in appropriate quantities and at the right times. "Truly healthy nutrition principles combined with the right levels of exercise make a positive and profound impact on the quality of one's life," says Brown.
