The Taunton Press Works with INM to Create DVD Archives for Fine Woodworking and Fine Cooking Magazines

Searchable archives provide readers instant access to the full back-catalog, as well as decades' worth of tips, techniques, and expert advice.

Montreal, Canada (PRWEB) April 22, 2009 -- Integration New Media, Inc. (INM), a leader in creating rich user experiences, announced today that it has recently completed two archive projects for The Taunton Press. As an extension of its popular collection of annual and themed DVD offerings, The Taunton Press has created complete DVD archives for two of its popular publications, Fine Woodworking and Fine Cooking.

"We've worked with INM on a number of our annual and themed library projects, and now they've helped us tackle one of our largest electronic digitization and cataloging efforts yet," said Missy Robinson, marketing manager for Fine Woodworking at Taunton. "Each archive not only contains the entire anthology of magazines, it is also chock-full of proven tips, step-by-step techniques, and vivid photographs."

The Fine Woodworking Archive Collection DVD-ROM includes digital versions of the first 201 issues of the magazine, as well as over three decades worth of tips, techniques and expert advice. Using the archive DVD, readers can browse through past issues by viewing thumbnails of the cover image, then drilling down into the issue's table of contents to view individual articles. They can also access a robust search engine to find all articles on a specific topic.

The Fine Cooking 15th Anniversary Archive DVD-ROM includes the first 96 issues of the magazine, along with more than 3,000 tested recipes, proven tips and techniques, step-by-step instructions, and more. The expanded search feature allows readers to view and search all 96 issues quickly and easily, browsing by a specific issue or searching the entire archive for a particular article, recipe, or technique.

These cross-platform DVDs run on both Windows and Mac systems and were built using Adobe® Director. A custom version of INM Impressario was used to display the magazines on-screen in two page mode, as they would appear on paper. In addition, INM VizionDB was used to provide the DVD's advanced search and indexing support.

Both the Fine Woodworking and Fine Cooking archive collections are available for purchase via the Taunton Online Store.http://store.taunton.com/onlinestore/
