Dr. Deutch's clinical knowledge and expertise will help us continue our mission: helping our patients achieve their goal of having healthy babies
Gurnee, Ill. (PRWEB) April 21, 2009
Todd Deutch, MD, an infertility specialist who has worked closely with GE to develop some of the newest breakthroughs in three-dimensional ultrasound, has joined the Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago. Dr. Deutch will be practicing primarily in the center's Crystal Lake, Ill. office.
"Dr. Deutch's clinical knowledge and expertise will help us continue our mission: helping our patients achieve their goal of having healthy babies," says board-certified reproductive endocrinologist Richard Sherbahn, MD, director of the Center's in-vitro fertilization (IVF) program. "The Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago is widely recognized for achieving consistently higher IVF rates. In 2007, our success rate was 54%, a rate 26% higher than the national average of 43%."
"I'm very excited to be joining Dr. Sherbahn's practice," says Dr. Deutch. "I really like the fact that the Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago offers state-of-the-art care and is continually investing in ensuring excellent patient outcomes. Dr. Sherbahn and I share a belief in putting our patients first and getting the best success rates possible."
Dr. Deutch's background is a little bit different from that of most physicians. "I have an undergraduate degree in systems engineering," he explains. "During my reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship training, my engineering background is what enabled me to work with GE's three-dimensional ultrasound design team."
His in-depth knowledge of three-dimensional ultrasound helps Dr. Deutch in his work with infertility patients. "It's one thing to use three-dimensional ultrasound, and quite another to have the expertise to interpret what you're doing," he says.
"There are a lot of things you can see on a three-dimensional ultrasound that you can't see on a conventional ultrasound," Dr. Deutch explains. "You can pick up most of the congenital uterine anomalies much better on a three-dimensional ultrasound. This new technology also allows us to more accurately measure some of these uterine conditions--which helps us assess a woman's risks as she is going through infertility treatments."
In addition to his advanced clinical skills, Dr. Deutch is known for his well-rounded treatment approach. "I talk with my patients about the other issues that surround infertility," he explains. "I think that's essential because there is so much stress associated with infertility. Helping patients be comfortable with the treatment and the office is very important."
Dr. Deutch has received numerous awards for his skills in laparoscopic surgery, teaching and research. He has published many articles and recently authored a book chapter on the use of three-dimensional ultrasound to evaluate the fallopian tubes. Dr. Deutch is in demand as a lecturer and has presented internationally on the use of three-dimensional ultrasound in reproductive medicine.
He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and is board-eligible in reproductive endocrinology. Dr. Deutch completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the world-renowned Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Va. He received his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Chicago, and earned his medical degree from Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans, La.
