Bowel Cleansing Product (OSP) Recalled Among Continuing Reports of Serious Side Effects

The law firm of Parilman & Associates announces they are actively investigating claims that consumers may have been injured as a result of a colon cleansing product manufactured by C.B. Feet Company. The serious side effects that could be associated with the C.B. Fleet Company products can be very harmful. All injured consumers are encouraged to discuss their legal options with a qualified attorney.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) April 23, 2009 -- The law firm of Parilman & Associates hereby announces that it is actively investigating claims and accepting inquiries from consumers who may have been injured as a result of using any of a variety of colon cleansing products that are generally used to help a patient prepare for colon-related medical procedures. This announcement comes on the heels of a voluntary recall of products manufactured by C.B. Fleet Co., and those who have been injured as a result of using these or other colon cleansing products that have come under scrutiny are encouraged to log onto http://www.fleetlawusa.com to schedule a free initial consultation.

In December of 2008, C.B. Fleet Co. announced the recall of its products known as Fleet Phospho-soda or the Fleet Phospho-soda EZ-Prep Bowel Cleansing System. This announcement occurred soon after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published an announcement that other colon cleansing products, known as OSP's were from that date forward required to include a 'Black Box' warning on all packages of OSP products that warn consumers of the risks involved with using those products.

Specifically, these OSP products were seen as particularly dangerous for those who were younger than 18 and older than 55, and for those patients who had suffered from certain preexisting health conditions including dehydration, kidney disease or acute colitis. Additionally, patients who had taken any of the following medications were also seen as at-risk:

-Diuretics
-Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors
-Angiotensin receptor blockers
-Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs

The most serious side effect linked to OSP products is a rare kidney condition known as acute phosphate nephropathy. This is a disease whereby calcium-phosphate crystals become trapped in the renal (kidney) tubules, causing potentially permanent kidney damage. The FDA also published a list of symptoms linked to acute phosphate nephropathy, and they include:

-Malaise
-Lethargy
-Drowsiness
-Decreased amount of urine
-Swelling of the ankles, feet and legs

Those who have been harmed as a result of using Fleet Phospo-Soda Products are encouraged to look into their legal rights and options.
