London conference examines employment law and HR best practices to optimize the use of a flexible workforce

We offer compliance audits on existing suppliers and workers; recommendations, training and sup¬port for managers, as well as solutions that allow ineligible indepen¬dent contractors to pay taxes as employees

Global contingent workforce management company The Albany Group will be a Silver Sponsor of the “Managing a Temporary Workforce 2009” conference on Thursday, 23 April at CCT Venues in Canary Wharf, London.

Hosted by Recruitment International magazine, the conference will explore employment law and HR best practices to optimize corporations’ use of agency, contract and temporary workers. Experts from the government and private sector will address effective ways to reduce cost and ensure flexibility, and will provide insight on the latest legislation affecting the use of temporary labour.

The keynote presentation will be delivered by Alan Nolan, Head of Infrastructure, Government and Health for KPMG.

The conference provides a perfect arena for The Albany Group, a global expert in flexible workforce issues and provider of related employment, compliance and administrative management solutions.

Legislation in many countries seeks to regulate the relationship between temporary workers and the users of temporary labour. Companies that infringe these regulations or misclassify a worker can be held lia¬ble for payroll taxes and social security, plus interest and penalties.

“Albany protects its clients from these risks by ensuring independent contractors qualify as being self employed,” said Jason Posel, senior vice president for Albany. “We offer compliance audits on existing suppliers and workers; recommendations, training and sup¬port for managers, as well as solutions that allow ineligible indepen¬dent contractors to pay taxes as employees”.

A large amount of regulatory issues affect the use of contingent workers. Albany’s global infrastructure and expertise extends to tenure and right to work issues, Labour Leasing license requirements, VAT planning, cross-border tax mitigation, and a multitude of employment and staffing regulations.
