Leading local solar installer integrates PA manufacturing site, research facility and free workshops to deliver sustainable energy solutions to three dozen local businesses and residents.

It seems most appropriate that we announce our new solar performance series on Earth Day because we, at Aztec, strive to harmonize today's financial and environmental climates.

To celebrate Earth Day, Aztec Solar Power (, Philadelphia's leading clean-energy solar company, today announced their plans to save the earth by installing one solar panel at a time -- starting with the Delaware and Lehigh Valleys. The company has already been tapped to deliver sustainable solar solutions to three-dozen local businesses and residents in the surrounding area. To support their clean-energy and Earth Day initiatives, Aztec also announced today that they are offering free solar-knowledge classes to the public. The first class in the series, SPF 101: Solar Performance Facts, will be held June 24th.

"Each day the Aztec team impacts our climate by designing systems, services and strategies that harness the power of the sun," said Aztec CEO, Sharon Altman. "It seems most appropriate that we announce our new solar performance series on Earth Day because we, at Aztec, strive to harmonize today's financial and environmental climates."

Unheard of for a local company, Aztec Solar Power is currently designing four commercial solar farms in the Philadelphia area. The solar farms range in megawatts from .5 to 2. The solar panels will allow each farm owner to sell their solar generated electricity back to their communities resulting in the reduction of local energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

Additionally, several large industrial businesses in the area, as well as a Doylestown, PA restaurant and a pharmacy in Harleysville, PA, are gearing up to enjoy saving the environment and on their electric bill. Aztec will begin installation on these projects and on their residential jobs as soon as permits are secured.

"Our residential and commercial clients are forward-thinking citizens from varying backgrounds and financial brackets but they all share the drive to reduce their electric bills as well as their carbon footprints," said Jerry Robbins, Aztec Solar Power's Chief Information Officer.

Furthermore, Aztec is doing their part to address the dire economic and employment landscape across the rest of the state as well. The company is working on the construction of a $10 million dollar manufacturing facility in central Pennsylvania where they will produce solar panels and create over one hundred new jobs. Although they will maintain their headquarters in King of Prussia, PA, this facility will offer the company a fully-integrated symphony of solar solutions including a solar research center. The company also maintains an office in Phillipsburg, NJ where they host their solar thermal (plumbing) and HVAC operations.

With backgrounds in finance, engineering, government, contracting and more, the Aztec Solar Power team is able to easily translate the often misunderstood federal and state government credit and rebate information. In fact, the company just added a new member to their team. Megan Reshetar, Aztec's certified Sustainable Building Advisor, is able to determine what steps a customer can take to make their home or building more energy efficient.

"The Department of Energy recently said that although $16 billion dollars of electricity is unusable, it is still billable to the U.S. Therefore, certified energy-efficient homes and business may actually be a state requirement in the near future," said Reshetar. "So, although certification is not yet required for rebates in Pennsylvania, it is an important step for anyone considering solar or thermal installations in the future."

In order to disseminate this wealth of financial, technological and environmental knowledge, Megan and a panel of her Aztec co-team members will deliver a complimentary breakfast workshop, SPF 101: Solar Performance Facts, on June 24. The information presented will arm residents of the Delaware Valley with knowledge about a unique window of opportunity to install solar energy systems and save significantly on their electric bills -- while at the same time increasing property value. The Aztec team will also demystify renewable energy, electric, engineering and more. Here are a few things the Aztec Solar Power team will offer:

  •     Solar power is very affordable. Most consumers see ROI in five years.
  •     The Mid-Atlantic region has plenty of sun to support ones utility needs. Snow, darkness and cloud-cover is not an issue because customers are never off of the grid.
  •     The federal government is currently offering those who builds a solar panel system a 30% tax credit. Commercial customers can receive this as a cash rebate.
  •     The state of Pennsylvania has passed and is funding up to 35% cash incentives for homeowners and businesses that wish to install PV (electric) systems on their houses or businesses.
  •      Twenty-percent of PA's energy MUST come from renewable energy by 2020.
  •     Until they reach that goal, utilities will pay the solar-owner for the non-polluting energy created by your solar system in the form of Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs). These can then be sold for cash through aggregators.
  •     New Jersey and Delaware residents and business can also benefit with similar incentives from their states.
  •     Visit for more info on credits and rebates.
