• Key business development opportunities made available to local companies and SMEs in the aerospace sector • Foreign buyers from the UK and USA to receive exposure to local aerospace capabilities • Knowledge sharing via a conference to boost capability growth and sharing

The inaugural Aerospace Supplier eXchange (ASX) 2009, a regional conference and exhibition that mainly focuses on the support capabilities of Tier 3 and 4 that serve the aerospace OEMs and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) companies, gears up to present the best meeting platform for the Aerospace Sector.

To be held at the Singapore Expo on 27-29 May 2009, ASX 2009 Exhibition will feature some 50 participating companies who are expected to showcase the most innovative products and services that meet the sourcing needs of both OEM and MRO giants.

This premier industry event will provide immense opportunities to local suppliers especially in meeting the key aerospace procurement decision makers in one to one business meetings through the Global Asia Trade Exchange (GATE) 09 Aerospace; a B2B matchmaking programme managed by IE Singapore and the Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore).

GATE 09 Aerospace pre-matches aerospace buyers with the most suitable suppliers in a prequalification process, to facilitate efficient sourcing of end-to-end solutions for the industry.

Five overseas buyers, from 3 major companies in the area of aircraft engine manufacture, avionics and a strong Tier 2 components manufacturer will be matched with local companies and SMEs who can meet their procurement requirements which include machining, casting, coating, plating, heat treatment, embedded computing products and more.

"The AAIS is delighted to play host in bringing together these key players to meet with the growing pool of local aerospace manufacturers to discuss possible business tie-ups," said Mr Charles Chong, President of the AAIS.

"Indeed, we are happy with the promising response from the aerospace sector despite the current economic situation. It clearly indicates that the local aerospace industry remains competitive and confident of its offerings to the international aerospace manufacturing market," said Ms Rosalind Ng, Managing Director of IIR Exhibitions.

Held concurrently with the exhibition is a comprehensive conference that provides valuable knowledge on key hot topics such as safety and risk management, business strategy, procurement, aerospace supply chain, certification and regulations and many others.

With about 20 esteemed speakers from around the world, companies like Aerostrategy Limited, CAA International of the UK, the USA Federal Aviation Administration and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore will share their valuable insights and experiences on the aerospace sector in general encompassing requirements and topics for both the MRO and Manufacturing community.

Delcam, the world's largest specialist supplier of computer-aided machining software, will be one of the companies speaking at the ASX conference to share their expertise on industry's trends in the Aerospace Manufacturing and MRO arena.

Recently, Delcam has established a new division of its Professional Services Group in Singapore, following the Group's successes in the UK and Europe. Delcam's software has been sold throughout Asia for more than twenty years, and is now making a bolder step into the region by setting up its SEA office in Singapore. The Singapore site will be the first office in the region for the Professional Services Group.

"The ASX 2009 is the first platform of its kind I've seen in Singapore, which congregates the industry together in a knowledge sharing as well as business development environment. Delcam SEA is proud to be a part of the ASX 2009; the first major event we are participating in since our official launch in Singapore," said Mr Hans Kunen, Managing Director of Delcam SEA.

To coincide with ASX 2009 is the first Singapore Aerospace Awards (SAA) supported by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, SPRING Singapore, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and Workforce Safety & Health (WSH) Council which will be held to celebrate outstanding achievements of companies in the Singapore aerospace industry. These awards recognise exemplary achievement in innovation, workforce development, safety and supplier excellence, amongst others.

Notes for the Editor:

Aerospace Supplier eXchange 2009 is supported by IE Singapore and SPRING Singapore, the inaugural ASX 2009 will have a full 2-day conference complemented by a 3-day exhibition, where the industry will come together to network and attend seminars by expert speakers, as well as understand the procurement and quality needs of major OEMs. Intended to be a biennial event, the ASX aims to be the premier event for all Tier 3 and 4 companies to exhibit their products and services, and one whereby buyers from the Tier 1 and 2 suppliers and OEM will view as vital to their sourcing needs.

IE Singapore will also be jointly organising GATE 2009 Aerospace with the AAIS, a premier procurement event held in conjunction to ASX 2009. GATE, or Global-Asia Trade Exchange, is an initiative that enables Singapore companies to meet with key procurement decision-makers from global OEMs. Buyers are matched with the most suitable suppliers, based on their detailed requirements. Essentially a global buyer-centric platform, it will facilitate the sourcing of end-to-end solutions for the aerospace industry.
