Award Winning Hollywood Indie Wraps Southern States Red Carpet Tour
"Say it in Russian" the award winning romantic thriller, rolls out the red carpet at Carmike Cinemas
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) April 23, 2009 -- The Carmike 15 in Raleigh was the site of an event tonight that mostly happens in Hollywood as the stars of "Say it in Russian" wrapped their successful tour of the southern United States with with a special red carpet avant-premiere of the award winning independent film, complete with all the trimmings of a Hollywood premiere. The event was the fifth in a series of red carpet premieres in Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina as part of a grass roots campaign to promote the film, which is being released in select Carmike Cinemas on May 4th as part of its Independent Film Series. Since independent films are "underdogs," breaking from the studio mold of hype and special effects, and lack the tens of millions of dollars to promote and advertise, they often rely on the Internet and the media to become successful. Most independent films never see the big screen and go straight to DVD. The theatrical release of

The special event kicked off the film's May 4 release in Raleigh, Greensboro, Fayetteville, Greenville, Jacksonville, Morrisville, Wilmington, Winston-Salem, and 60 other cities across the South and Midwest. The cost of a ticket rolls back to the 70's price of only $5. "We want people to help us celebrate a return to cinematic values," said Kenneth Eade, Executive Producer. "And we promise there will be no 21st Century disappointments."
Independent distributor Dalton Pictures and Entertainment, and Carmike Cinemas have teamed together to bring back Hollywood's Golden Age, but not just anywhere-to the south and Midwest, two markets that the creator of the independent film series, Jerrry Dalton, thinks have been ignored by mainstream Hollywood. The film opens May 4th in 65 cities across the Midwest and South as part of Carmike Cinemas and Dalton Pictures & Entertainment's Independent Film Series. "It's entirely a grass roots effort," said Eade. "We're asking the people of North Carolina to heed the call and bring back quality filmed entertainment by supporting the independent film movement," he added.
Critics describe the film as "launching from romance to thriller," and the cinematic value of the film as "marvelous location work, handsomely photographed by Emmanuel Vouniozos, who makes the landscapes and locales shine even as he lends beauty to the human faces." They have hailed the acting as a "welcome appearance" by Hollywood icon Faye Dunaway, and "verteran television actor Steven Brand and the stunning Agata Gotova bring a deep passion to their performances and seem to capture the essence of young love."
Filmed in Paris, Moscow and Los Angeles, with award winning exceptional cinematography and a fully orchestrated original score by Russian Superstar Igor Nikolaev, "Say it in Russian" stars Russian actress Agata Gotova, in the lead role of the film as Daria Larina, the daughter of a rich Russian mafia oligarch played by Serbian actor Rade Serbedzija (Snatch, Shooter). Gotova's character falls in love with the American Andrew Lamont, played by actor Steven Brand (The Scorpion King,) but Andrew soon finds on a visit to Moscow that he is involved with a family that is more complicated and dangerous than he ever imagined.
