Book Lover Shares His Love of the Written Word on New Blog
Launching in November 2008, Books-Books-Books.net is an e-store that is run by a longtime literature lover. Recently, the site added a new blog to remind people why the images provided by books are so much more powerful than the ones on television.
Pensacola, FL (PRWEB) April 24, 2009 -- According to a study published by the National endowment for the Arts, an independent federal agency, Americans are reading less and their scores in reading continue dip as well. The same report claims that while two-thirds of employers ranked reading comprehension very important for high school graduates, yet 38 percent of these employers consider high school graduates deficient in reading. Sadly, the most embarrassing statistic is that American 15-year-olds ranked fifteenth in average reading scores for 31 industrialized nations, behind Poland, Korea, France and Canada, among other countries.
Despite these grim facts, some Americans are trying to make sure that a change can be made, enter Steve Gee.
Gee is the proprietor of www.Books-Books-Books.net, a book web store that also has several resources that encourage reading.
"I love books and I wanted the primary focus of my site to reflect this passion," he said of the five-month-old website. "I literally own books passed down to me in my family, some of which date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. I realized that it's never too late for someone to get a jump start on collecting books and build their own library."
Whether it's non-fiction books or comic books, Gee hopes that his website will be a URL that people will become familiar with.
"I want to help broaden minds. Movies can be fun, but books are always, better," he said.
In addition to having the e-store and resource site, Gee has recently debuted his new blog, www.AllAroundBookBlog.com.
The blog covers the gamut of topics with new book reviews to the auditory joys of listening to audio book.
"I'm writing from my own experience," Gee said. "This is rich stuff and my hope is to fire imaginations, particularly with regard to how well we can relate to and help one another to live and grow."
As the site continues to grow, Gee hunts for more books to include on his website, all the while helping people realize their full potential outside the confines of a square electronic box.
