President Obama Visits Newton, Iowa on Earth Day to Discuss Energy Plan

Newton, Iowa is home to many green firms including X-Treme Scooters

Newton, Iowa (PRWEB) April 23, 2009 -- On Earth Day, April 22, 2009, President Obama visited Newton, Iowa. President Obama toured Trinity Structural Towers, a manufacturer of tubular wind towers and discussed his comprehensive energy plan. Newton, Iowa is also home to TPI Composites, a manufacturer of high-performance wind turbine blades and X-Treme Scooters, a manufacturer of electric and gas powered scooters, mopeds, electric bicycles, bicycles, ATVs and Utility vehicles.

Newton is rapidly becoming a center for eco-friendly and alternative energy solution manufacturers. X-Treme scooters have been marketing scooters and mopeds since 2001. In 2006, X-Treme realized that electric vehicles were going to be an integral part of our transportation system, and began marketing electric scooters. X-Treme markets over 30 different electric scooters, bicycles, e-bikes, mopeds and vehicles. The X-Treme website can be viewed by clicking this web link - http://www.x-tremescooters.com/

Scooter and moped unit sales have increased slightly over 75% over the past two years per the Motorcycle Industry Council. X-Treme has also seen a substantial increase in scooter and moped sales, especially the electric versions. There are many reasons for purchasing an electric scooter:

  • Save more money by not buying gas
  • Zero emissions improve the environment
  • Reduce our dependence on foreign oil
  • Diminish our carbon footprint
  • Reduces traffic congestion as scooters navigate roads easier than automobiles

The most popular X-Treme electric vehicle is the stylish and affordable XB-700Li. This electric bike has 26 lightweight lithium ion batteries. The XB-700Li travels at 20 miles per hour and has a range of 25-35 miles per battery charge. Since the XB-700Li is an electric bike, no driver's license or driver's registration is required. For people who want more power, X-Treme has a newer line of electric models - the XM line. The XM-4000Li is the newest edition in the XM series with a top speed of 50 miles per hour and a range of 60 miles per battery charge. The XM-4000Li has 20 lightweight lithium batteries that last 7-10 years. The largest version in the XM series is the XM-5000Li, which also has lithium batteries and travels 60 miles per hour with a range of 85 miles per battery charge. The XM series is street legal in all 50 states.

X-Treme also markets an electric bicycle. The current model is known as the XB-300Li and has 7 lightweight long-lasting lithium batteries. The XB-300Li travels at 20 miles per hour and 20-25 miles per electrical charge. The rider can also shut off the battery and pedal since the bike has a 7 speed Shimano Tourney® Gears & Shifter system.

All of X-Treme's electric and gas powered vehicles can be viewed at our website http://www.x-tremescooters.com/. Some models qualify for a federal tax credit of 10%.
