The summit is a gathering of African and U.S. faith leaders and high-level global health visionaries, including Susan Rice, US Ambassador to the United Nations, Ray Chambers, United Nations Special Envoy for Malaria, and music visionary Quincy Jones. Also in recognition of the second annual World Malaria Day on April 25, Odyssey Networks has partnered with the Tony Blair Faith Foundation (http://www.tonyblairfaithfoundation.org/) on a multimedia initiative to create awareness of the malaria crisis in Africa and the role played by faith groups and other organizations worldwide in combating the disease. A highly focused and targeted campaign, BedNets Now!" includes the airing of a television special, Web sites, distribution of public service announcements, and dedicated Facebook and MySpace cause pages.
The television special, "Albert Schweitzer: Called to Africa," is a docudrama on the life of the malaria research and treatment pioneer. It will air Sunday April 26th, on "Odyssey Networks Presents," a weekly showcase of programs dealing with issues of social justice (Hallmark Channel at 7 AM ET/PT).
