New Metal Detector Website Makes Treasure Hunting Fun Again

Recently launched web store, CoilToSoil.com is a fresh web venture that is encouraging people to combine fun in the sun with treasure hunting through the great American pastime of metal detecting.

I thought that there would be other people out there, like me, who are interested in metal detectors but don't have access to them.

For many people, metal detectors can be a source of fun and exercise. As the sun slowly comes out and summer awaits a rush of people running down to the beach with picnic baskets and volleyball nets, there's sure to be lost treasures found beneath the sand as people clear out and head home.

Enter Kim McKendree and http://www.CoilToSoil.com, a website that specializes in high quality metal detectors at affordable prices.

"Metal detecting is a favorite pastime of mine," said McKendree, who operates the website with his wife, Becky. "I thought that there would be other people out there, like me, who are interested in metal detectors but don't have access to them."

McKendree has several name brands at his store and though it's only weeks old (it launched in March 2009 at press time) he's already looking at adding more to his site, thus creating a rather comprehensive catalog.

"We're looking into additional manufacturers," he said.

Unlike other web stores, CoilToSoil.com comes equipped with its own in-house blog, in the form of http://www.TheMetalDetectorGuru.com.

The blog has tips on finding buried treasure - be it small or large - as well as reviews on the products that appear on Coil to Soil.

"It's a great way for me to interact with people," said McKendree. "If people comment on the blog, it'll give me a good jumping point topically, as well as an idea of what people are looking to have in terms of their metal detecting."

In terms of fitness, metal detecting itself is a proven light cardiovascular workout, perfect for people with heart problems or limited mobility.

As the summer draws closer, metal detectors will no doubt become a staple for the 2009 season, as much as badminton, baseball and S'mores. CoilToSoil.com is a good place to start looking for them.
